Player Eligibility & Registration (click here for AAU age calculator)

1.) September 1, 2008 shall be the cutoff date for all state and national competitions. If the player competes in the following age groups he must be born on or after the corresponding date :

No later than summer following H.S. class graduation.

17/u (11th grade)   September 1, 1992
exception: a player who is in the 11th grade & born after 9/1/89 can participate in the 17/u/11th grade div.

16/u (10th grade)   September 1, 1991
exception: a player who is in the 10th grade & born after 9/1/90 can participate in the 16/u/10th grade div.

15/u (9th grade)    September 1, 1992
exception: a player who is in the 9th grade & born after 9/1/91 can participate in the 15/u/9th grade div.

14/u (8th grade)    September 1, 1993
exception: a player who is in the 8th grade & born after 9/1/92 can participate in the 14/u/8th grade div.

13/u (7th grade)    September 1, 1994
exception: a player who is in the 7th grade & born after 9/1/93 can participate in the 13/u/7th grade div.

12/u (6th grade)    September 1, 1995
exception: a player who is in the 6th grade & born after 9/1/94 can participate in the 12/u/6th grade div.

11/u (5th grade)    September 1, 1996
exception: a player who is in the 5th grade & born after 9/1/95 can participate in the 11/u/5th grade div.

10/u (4th grade)    September 1, 1997
exception: a player who is in the 4th grade & born after 9/1/96 can participate in the 10/u/4th grade div.

9/u (3rd grade)     September 1, 1998
exception: a player who is in the 3rd grade & born after 9/1/97 can participate in the 9/u/3rd  grade div.

8/u (2nd grade)     September 1, 1999
exception: a player who is in the 2nd grade & born after 9/1/98 can participate in the 8/u/2nd grade div.

Grade Confirmation must be placed on the AAU form signed by a school administrator. March 1, 2008 is the  grade determining date. ONLY players competing under the exception rule needs a grade confirmation form. Players the correct age do NOT need grade confirmation.   

2.) A player may participate in up to 3 (three) age divisions for which he qualifies (e.g. – a 10u player MAY qualify for the 11u and 12u division, therefore he may play in all of them). In ALL play up cases, the player MUST play with the SAME AAU club/team when playing up.

3.) COACHES are responsible to see that their team meets all eligibility requirements (all requirements listed in section # 5 below. If a coach thinks a player is ineligible, he must protest in WRITING during pool play. Once championship bracket play has begun, protest concerning player eligibility will NOT be heard.  A written request of protest along with $100 cash must be turned into the tournament director within 2 hours of completion of the game in question. Protest CANNOT be heard regarding officials’ calls during a game. If your protest is upheld your $100 will be returned. If not upheld, you will forfeit the money. If a player is found to be ineligible, BOTH the player & coach could be banned from AAU for one year after the hearing.

4.)A team may have a maximum of three (3) cross boundary athletes on a roster at any time.

5.) A coach MUST complete the following documentation for their team: ONLINE AAU roster (click here for detailed roster info), birth certificate with seal clearly legible (can be scanned & saved online, mailed or delievered) for all players, copy of players’ AAU insurance/registration card, grade exception form (if applicable), and the INTENT to play form for players in question.  All documentation MUST be turned in ON or BEFORE the deadline stated in the district registration form in order to receive your bond refund at the end of the season. Players who are already on the REGISTERED player list do NOT have to re-register (exception: grade exception players have to turn in an updated {current year} grade exception form for the new AAU season).

6.) Only males may play in the Boys' Basketball program.
